The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Odisha is steadily moving towards its final stage, with the claims, objections and hearing process in full swing. Eligible citizens still have time until August 19 to submit applications, Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan has urged.

As of today, notices have been issued to 58,36,430 voters. Of these, 57,77,565 notices have been successfully served. Hearings have already been completed for 30,11,587 electors who received notices. Due to non-availability of required information, 12,572 voters have been declared ineligible for inclusion in the final electoral roll.

Fresh applications continue to pour in. A total of 1,81,770 electors have applied for new registration through Form-6, while 37,265 applications have been received under Form-7 for deletion or shifting of names. Another 1,63,424 electors have submitted Form-8 seeking corrections in name, address or other particulars, or for grouping family members at one location.

Two constituencies have already set a benchmark. Patkura Assembly Constituency in Kendrapara district and Athmallik Assembly Constituency in Angul district have achieved 100 per cent notice delivery and completed 100 per cent of the subsequent hearings, topping the state.

The schedule is clear: decisions on claims and objections arising from the notice stage will continue from July 5 to September 17. The final electoral roll will be published on September 21, 2026.

CEO R.S. Gopalan has appealed to all eligible citizens to utilise the remaining window till August 19 to file any claim or objection so that the state’s voter list remains accurate, inclusive and up-to-date.
