Former Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda fell ill inside jail and was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital under tight security.

He complained of chest pain and was first admitted to the medicine ward before being moved to the surgery department. Later, he also visited the dental OPD for consultation.

Panda, arrested in connection with the murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda, was transferred from Berhampur jail to MKCG for treatment. Doctors confirmed that his condition required close monitoring.

While entering the hospital, Panda told reporters that he was innocent and had been falsely implicated for political reasons. He said he trusted the judicial system and believed justice would prevail, adding, “Jagannath is with me.”

Hospital sources confirmed that Panda remains under observation. Security personnel continue to guard the premises to prevent any untoward incident.
