A 15‑year‑old attacked students at the State Medical University in Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic, Russia, injuring six people, including four Indian nationals.

The Indian Embassy in Moscow confirmed the incident and reported that one victim remains in critical condition.

The teenager entered the campus on Saturday and stabbed multiple students. He also injured two police officers while resisting arrest and harmed himself during the frenzy. Russia’s Interior Ministry confirmed the details and said the suspect is now receiving treatment at a children’s hospital.

Reports identified the attacker as a member of a banned neo‑Nazi outfit called NS/WP. Witnesses said he shouted extremist slogans about the Holocaust during the assault. Local media also reported that he drew a swastika on a wall using victims’ blood. Authorities launched a probe into the attack and are investigating his extremist links.

The Indian Embassy assured that the injured students are receiving medical care and that the matter is being closely monitored. The Embassy emphasised its commitment to the safety of Indian nationals abroad.

Earlier this week, the Indian government informed Parliament about violent incidents affecting Indian students overseas between 2018 and 2025. Seventeen students died in Canada, nine in the USA, and three in Australia. The government reiterated that Indian missions abroad prioritise student safety and press host countries to investigate and punish perpetrators.
