Panic gripped multiple courts in Odisha after fresh bomb threats were received through anonymous email IDs, forcing authorities to evacuate premises and tighten security.
At the Cuttack District Judge Court, officials received an email warning of explosives inside the premises. Police immediately cordoned off the area and deployed bomb disposal squads. The incident comes days after a similar threat targeted the Orissa High Court.
In the Phulbani District Court, Kandhamal, another email threatened to blow up the premises. Authorities swiftly evacuated magistrates, lawyers, staff, and visitors. ASP Ramendra Prasad and SDPO officers supervised heavy police deployment, while bomb and dog squads conducted intensive searches.
Puri District Court also received a bomb threat via email. Police evacuated the premises and began thorough checks with bomb detection teams and sniffer dogs. Senior officers, including SP Prateek Singh and City DSP Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra, reached the site to oversee the investigation.
An anonymous email threatened to blow up the Jajpur District Judge Court with explosives, prompting authorities to immediately evacuate the premises and tighten security.
Police sources confirmed that cyber cell teams are working to trace the origin of the threatening emails, with preliminary information suggesting that some messages may have originated from outside the country.
So far, no suspicious objects have been found, but search operations continue as a precaution. The repeated threats have created fear among court staff, lawyers, and visitors, while residents expressed concern over the safety of judicial institutions.
Authorities assured that strict measures are being taken and urged people not to believe rumours. Investigations are underway to determine whether these threats are linked to earlier incidents reported in Cuttack, Sambalpur, and other districts.
