A tragic incident occurred at Talamiting Waterfall in Koraput district when a youth fell to his death while attempting to take a selfie.
The victim, identified as Babula Khara from Paik Puki village under Gadiaguda Panchayat in Dasmantpur block, visited the waterfall with five friends on Wednesday afternoon.
The group travelled on three motorcycles to enjoy the scenic spot. Babula climbed onto a rock to capture a photo, but he suddenly slipped and fell nearly 20 feet. He died instantly at the site.
Police from Lakshmipur station reached the location, seized the body, and began an investigation. Sources confirmed that Babula worked at a hotel in Semiliguda.
The incident has raised concerns about safety at tourist spots in Koraput. Locals expressed shock over the accident, noting that risky behaviour near waterfalls often leads to such tragedies. Authorities are expected to review safety measures at Talmitingi Waterfall to prevent similar mishaps.
