Cold weather is expected to intensify once again across Odisha, with the Meteorological Department forecasting a sharp fall in temperatures over the next two to three days. As cloud cover clears gradually, minimum night temperatures are likely to decline further, bringing back severe cold conditions in many parts of the state.
According to the latest weather bulletin, minimum temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the coming days. Officials have indicated that there may be no significant improvement even after this period, increasing the likelihood of persistent cold wave conditions, particularly during night and early morning hours.
Earlier, the state experienced a brief rise in temperature due to upper-level cloud cover linked to an active deep depression system. This temporary weather pattern reduced the intensity of the cold from Saturday night onward. However, meteorologists now confirm that as the system weakens and skies clear, cold conditions are expected to strengthen again from today.
The Meteorological Department has urged everyone to take precautions, especially older adults, children, people experiencing homelessness, and those working outdoors, as prolonged exposure to low temperatures can impact health and daily activities.
Residents are advised to stay warm, limit exposure during early morning and late-night hours, and follow official weather updates as the cold wave continues to affect the region.
