The ongoing cold wave across Odisha has pushed temperatures to extreme lows, with Similipal recording zero degrees Celsius.

According to the Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF), Upper Barakamuda in Similipal touched 0°C, while Chahala recorded 2°C. Moreover, Bareipani and Gudugudia reported 5°C. Dense fog and icy winds have disrupted daily life in these regions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that the cold wave continues in isolated pockets across Odisha. Night temperatures have dropped significantly, with 23 cities recording below 10°C in the past 24 hours. Udayagiri in the hilly region reported the lowest at 3°C.

Similarly, Phulbani recorded 5°C, Rourkela 5.1°C, and Jharsuguda 5.4°C. In addition, Daringbadi registered 7°C, Keonjhar 7.6°C, Sundargarh 7.8°C, and Angul 8°C, keeping northern Odisha under severe chill.

In Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature stood at 10.2°C, while Cuttack recorded 9.6°C. IMD forecasts that night temperatures will dip further by 1–1.5°C over the next three to four days. Consequently, cold wave conditions and dense fog will persist in several districts.

Regional IMD Director Manorama Mohanty stated that Boudh and Nayagarh witnessed very dense fog, while Bhawanipatna, Paralakhemundi, Phulbani, and Rayagada also reported foggy conditions. She added that fog is likely to continue across the state for the next five days.

Authorities have issued advisories for Boudh, Nayagarh, and Koraput districts today, urging residents to remain cautious.
