The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against 16 accused in the Odisha Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam scam.
The chargesheet includes detailed evidence and allegations against individuals involved in irregularities and financial transactions during the exam process.
The accused named in the chargesheet include Shankar Prusti, Muna Mohanty, Suresh Nayak, Soumya Priyadarshini Samal, Rinku Maharana, Biranchi Nayak, Nitish Kumar, and others. Out of the 16, nine were earlier arrested by Odisha Crime Branch, while the remaining seven were taken into custody by the CBI and produced before the court.
According to the CBI report, more individuals may have played a role in the scam. Investigators continue to probe deeper, and additional charge sheets may follow in the coming days.
The SI exam scam sparked widespread outrage across Odisha. Thousands of aspirants saw their future jeopardised as allegations of corruption and manipulation surfaced. The state government handed over the case to the CBI to ensure transparency and accountability.
The scandal revealed irregularities in the recruitment process and exposed financial dealings that undermined fairness. Political circles now debate the chargesheet, with opposition parties targeting the government, while officials emphasise full cooperation with the investigation.
The CBI’s move marks a significant step in restoring credibility to recruitment examinations in Odisha.
