The Odisha Assembly Budget Session was adjourned till 12:00 today following disruptions created by Opposition MLAs.
The chaos erupted shortly after the House convened, with Opposition members vociferously protesting, thereby hindering the scheduled proceedings. Unable to restore order, Speaker Surama Padhy declared the adjournment.
During the Budget Session, chaos ensued as opposition Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) gathered beneath the Speaker’s podium to protest. They were demanding a platform to express their grievances on pressing issues they claimed were being ignored. Despite the Speaker’s appeals for decorum and constructive engagement, the uproar continued for a significant duration, reflecting the intensity of the political disagreements in the House.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) expressed their discontent over the decision to delink Panchayati Raj Diwas from Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary on March 5 and move it to April 24. Meanwhile, the Congress party created a loud uproar over the alleged growing atrocities on women in the state.
The Assembly is expected to reconvene at 12:00 PM, with hopes that the discussions can proceed smoothly and address the pressing concerns of the state.
