The Shooting League of India (SLI) announced the UP Prometheans as its newest franchise for the inaugural edition scheduled from February 16 to 26 next year.
The team, owned by Prometheus School in Noida, will compete alongside other franchises in a mixed-team format across pistol, rifle, and shotgun disciplines. Moreover, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Kalikesh Singh Deo highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s sporting potential and praised the franchise’s educational and developmental philosophy.
The competition will feature events in pistol (10m, 25m), rifle (10m, 50m 3P), and shotgun (trap and skeet). In addition, organisers confirmed that teams will be divided into two pools for the league stage, followed by knockout rounds.
Players will be drafted across four tiers: Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth. Consequently, this structure ensures participation from international stars, leading Indian shooters, and promising young talent.
The introduction of the UP Prometheans strengthens the league’s vision of combining professional sport with grassroots development. Furthermore, officials believe the franchise system will create opportunities for shooters to showcase their skills on a larger platform while inspiring the next generation of athletes.
With the inaugural edition approaching, excitement continues to build around the Shooting League of India. As a result, fans and stakeholders expect the competition to elevate shooting sports in the country and provide a new model for professional engagement.
