The Odisha government is set to release the fifth phase of the first instalment of its flagship program, Subhadra Yojana, today.

As many as 1,85,000 beneficiaries will have the assistance credited to their bank accounts today, increasing the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme to approximately 1.20 crore across five phases.

With the application process still ongoing, the total number of applications for the scheme has reached 1.08 crore, and the government has set March 31 as the last date to apply for the scheme. To ensure all eligible beneficiaries are covered, the Odisha government will conduct a comprehensive door-to-door survey to identify those left out. Beneficiaries found eligible through the survey will receive three pending instalments together on Raksha Bandhan.

Inaugurated on September 17, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Subhadra Yojana aims to empower over 10 million women aged between 21 and 60. Under this scheme, each eligible woman receives Rs 10,000 annually, disbursed in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day, amounting to Rs 50,000 over five years. The funds are directly transferred into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, promoting financial inclusion.

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be residents of Odisha with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh and should not be government employees, income-tax payers, or beneficiaries receiving over Rs 1,500 per month from other government schemes.
