In a significant step towards fostering community development and youth empowerment, Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (OHPC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Skill Center (WSC) in Bhubaneswar as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This collaboration aims to equip 60 underprivileged youth from five key districts with cutting-edge, globally aligned skill training, addressing critical gaps in technical and service-sector competencies.

The initiative targets marginalized communities in Angul, Koraput, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Sambalpur—districts where OHPC’s hydro power units operate. By sponsoring the full training program, OHPC is not only investing in individual futures but also contributing to Odisha’s broader socio-economic growth. The selected trainees will immerse themselves in hands-on courses at WSC, including Beauty & Wellness, Vertical Transportation, Precision Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Services, Electrical Technology, and AC & Refrigeration. These programs emphasize practical learning, state-of-the-art facilities, and structured apprenticeships, paving the way for enhanced employability in high-demand industries.

The MoU signing ceremony, held today, was attended by key dignitaries from both organizations. Representing OHPC, Sri Sandeep Patnaik, Director (HR), affixed his signature alongside Mr. Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education (SD & TE) Department-cum-Chief Operating Officer (COO) of WSC. The event was witnessed by senior OHPC officials, including Sri Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance); Sri Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operations) I/c; Smt. Anima Tripathy, Chief General Manager (HR); and Sri Manoj Kumar Mohanty, Deputy General Manager (HR). From WSC, notable attendees included Shri T. Thambyrajah, Principal; Smt. Jeetamitra Satpathy, Deputy Principal; Shri Pitchian Anthonysamy; and Lim Lai Soon.

This partnership reflects OHPC’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the communities surrounding its operational footprint. By bridging the skill divide, the initiative promises to create a pipeline of future-ready talent, driving sustainable development and economic resilience in Odisha’s underserved regions. As the state continues to prioritize skill enhancement, collaborations like this set a benchmark for corporate contributions to human capital development.
