Odisha Vigilance achieved another conviction today as Khirabdi Behera, OAS (Retd.), Former Tahasildar of Padampur in Rayagada district was found guilty in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar, sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh.
Behera faced charges under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, after Vigilance investigators discovered assets far beyond his known sources of income. The conviction marks another success in the state’s ongoing campaign against corruption among public servants.
Following the judgment, Odisha Vigilance announced that it will move the competent authority to stop Behera’s pension benefits in accordance with service rules. Officials said the department remains committed to pursuing legal action against convicted officers to ensure accountability.
