Sandeep Kumar Swain, TGT at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV), Timanpur in Sinapali Block, was suspended with immediate effect on November 11 for violating the secrecy of voting during the Nuapada by-election.
He was serving as the Presiding Officer at Booth No. 46 located at Government Upgraded High School, Biromal.

According to the official order issued by the District Election Officer and Collector, Nuapada, the suspension was enforced after Swain was found to have breached electoral confidentiality, a serious violation under election conduct rules. His headquarters during the suspension period has been reassigned to OAV, Negipal in Nuapada Block.
The order further states that Swain will only be reinstated into government service after receiving clearance from the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. This action reflects the administration’s strict stance on maintaining the integrity and secrecy of the voting process.
This is the second such suspension reported during the Nuapada by-election, following a similar action against another Presiding Officer at Booth No. 36. Both incidents underscore the Election Commission’s zero-tolerance policy toward any breach of voter confidentiality.
