In a vibrant celebration of cinema’s legacy and Odisha’s rich cultural tapestry, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, has announced the hosting of the prestigious 10th Film Preservation & Restoration Workshop India 2025.

Organised by the renowned Film Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and the State Government’s Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, the week-long event promises to blend global expertise with local heritage.

Set against the artistic backdrop of Odisha Crafts Museum—Kalabhoomi in Bhubaneswar, the workshop will kick off on November 12, 2025. Chief Minister Majhi graciously accepted an invitation from Film Heritage Foundation Director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur to serve as the Chief Guest for the opening ceremony. Adding star power to the occasion, legendary actress and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Waheeda Rehman will grace the event as the Guest of Honour.

This international training program, now in its 10th edition, attracts filmmakers, archivists, and enthusiasts from around the world to delve into the art and science of preserving cinematic treasures. Over the years, it has restored hundreds of forgotten Indian films, ensuring that stories from the silver screen endure for future generations.

As Bhubaneswar gears up for this cinematic spectacle, the workshop underscores Odisha’s rising stature on the world cultural stage—proving once again that from the looms of Sambalpur to the screens of the world, creativity knows no bounds.
