Odisha CID Crime Branch made a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scam.
Officials uncovered an organized criminal syndicate that manipulated the examination process for profit.
Investigators found clear evidence of conspiracy. Behera’s actions showed coordination and intent to subvert the recruitment process conducted by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB).
CID officers apprehended Behera, interrogated him, and seized incriminating materials. He was formally arrested on October 3 and presented before the JMFC court in Berhampur.
Earlier, police arrested 117 individuals linked to the scam. The case originated from Golanthara Police Station and was transferred to CID for deeper investigation.
The scam falls under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
CID teams continue to pursue the main conspirator. Authorities are analyzing digital evidence and financial trails to identify further links.
The case highlights serious vulnerabilities in public recruitment systems. Officials promise strict action and systemic reforms.
Public concern grows as more details emerge. The arrest of Behera marks a critical step in dismantling the syndicate.
