Team India has finally issued an injury update on Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma, just a day before the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan.
India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel revealed that both players were suffering from severe cramps during the last Super 4s clash against Sri Lanka, which India won in a thrilling Super Over finish.
Hardik Pandya’s Condition
-
Hardik delivered just one over before walking off the field, clutching his left hamstring.
-
He dismissed Kusal Mendis for a first-ball duck, but did not return for the remainder of the innings.
-
“We will assess Hardik tonight and tomorrow morning before making a final call on his availability,” Morkel said.
Abhishek Sharma’s Condition
-
Abhishek was seen clutching his right thigh in the ninth over and left the field in the 10th.
-
He received immediate treatment with pickle juice and ice therapy.
-
“Abhishek is fine,” Morkel confirmed.
No Training Before the Final
Morkel added that India will skip training on Saturday to focus entirely on recovery and rest before the high-voltage final.
“The boys are already in ice baths. Recovery started immediately after the game. The best way to recover is to rest, sleep, and stay off your feet. Tomorrow, there will be individual pool sessions and massages to get everyone mentally and physically ready,” Morkel said.
The Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan is scheduled for Sunday, Sept 28, 2025.
