Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi has described the launch of the first Mahila Commando Conversion Course at the National Security Guard Training Academy in Manesar as a proud milestone for Nari Shakti.

In a post on X, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nari Shakti is being empowered in the truest sense through capability, leadership and opportunity. She noted that women personnel from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces will receive specialised training in weapons, tactical intervention, hostage rescue and counter-terrorism operations.

The 12-week course, which began on 24 August 2026, is designed to prepare physically robust, technically proficient and operationally ready women commandos. NSG officials have said the programme goes beyond increasing the number of women in security duties. It aims to give them the operational capability required for demanding specialised roles and to create a wider pool of trained personnel who can return to their parent forces with higher professional standards.

The initiative also seeks to strengthen interoperability across India’s security architecture. Women who complete the course will carry enhanced skills back to their organisations, contributing to more distributed preparedness for internal security challenges.

Annpurna Devi said India’s Nari Shakti is breaking barriers and leading from the front. The slogan adopted for the course captures that spirit: She Who Dares, Leads.

The first MCCC marks a visible expansion of women’s roles in a domain long associated with elite male units. Its success will be measured not only by the skills acquired at Manesar but by how those skills are absorbed into state and central forces across the country.
