Indian men’s recurve archers endured a disappointing day at the World Archery Championships 2025, with all three athletes bowing out in the individual rounds. Despite a promising start, none managed to reach the medal stage.
Debutant Rahul was the standout performer, advancing to the third round before narrowly losing in a shoot-off to Georgia’s Aleksandre Machavariani. Rahul held a 5–1 lead after three sets, including a perfect 30 in the second, but faltered in the final two sets. The match ended 5–6 after Machavariani scored a perfect 10 in the shoot-off, while Rahul managed only an 8.
Olympian Dhiraj Bommadevara faced a tough draw against former Olympic champion Mete Gazoz in the opening round. Despite drawing two sets, Dhiraj lost 2–6 as Gazoz consistently edged him with near-perfect scores.
Neeraj Chauhan was comprehensively defeated 0–6 by Uzbekistan’s Bobrajabov Bekzod, failing to win a single set.
The early exits mark a setback for India’s recurve campaign, though hopes remain high in the women’s team event, where the Indian squad is set to compete for bronze.
