Gold and silver prices in Bhubaneswar witnessed notable changes on New Year’s Day, bringing mixed reactions among buyers and investors.
Customers, who always show strong interest in purchasing gold, expressed concern as rates continued to rise after months of steady increases.
On January 1, 2026, the price of 24-carat gold climbed by Rs 170, reaching Rs 1,35,060 per 10 grams compared to Rs 1,34,890 the previous day. Similarly, 22-carat gold rose by Rs 150, moving from Rs 1,23,650 to Rs 1,23,800 per 10 grams. The 18-carat gold rate also increased, going up by Rs 120 to Rs 1,01,290 per 10 grams from Rs 1,01,170.
Meanwhile, silver prices showed a slight decline. The rate for one kilogram of silver dropped by Rs 1,000, falling from Rs 2,57,000 to Rs 2,56,000. This dip offered some relief to customers who plan to invest in silver ornaments or bullion.
Experts note that the continuous rise in gold prices has created anxiety among buyers, especially those considering investment or jewellery purchases. At the same time, the small reduction in silver prices provides an opportunity for investors to diversify.
