Er Ashok Basa has been nominated as a Member of the National Building Code Committee (CED 46) of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the premier body responsible for revising and maintaining India’s National Building Code.
Already serving on the Bridge Standards and Specifications Committee (BSS) of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), Er Basa now holds key positions in both building and bridge standardization—two pillars of India’s infrastructure development. This dual appointment places him among a select group of engineers with influence across both domains.
On August 25, 2025, Er Basa participated in the NBC revision meeting held at Manak Bhavan, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Er V. Suresh, Chairman of CED 46, and attended by Er Sanjay Pant, Deputy Director General of BIS, along with other senior officials. The committee is currently engaged in updating the National Building Code to align with modern construction practices, sustainability goals, and safety standards.
Er Basa’s inclusion in this prestigious committee is a testament to his expertise and long-standing contributions to civil engineering in India. His insights are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s built environment.
