The Special Judge, Vigilance on Friday convicted the former Secretary of the Haripur Service Co-operative Society and sentenced him to undergo a rigorous imprisonment of 3 years.
The convict has been identified as Manohar Behera, Former Secretary (Retired), Haripur Service Co-operative Society (SCS) under Balasore-Bhadrak Central Co-operative (BBCC) Bank, Khaira Branch, Balasore.
Behera was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) PC Act,1988/409/465/477-A IPC, for misappropriation of government money to the tune of Rs 5,50,142 towards the cost of 69 MT fertiliser by way of manipulating records of the SCS and showing the same as genuine.
Behera was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and a fine of Rs 50,000.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Sri Manohar Behera, Former Secretary (Retired), Haripur SCS under BBCC Bank following his conviction.
