In a heartbreaking incident, three Odia labourers from Bakadabeda village in Nabarangpur district lost their lives in a road accident in Telangana. The victims—Jayaram Bhatra (56), Narayan Bhatra (20), and Chetanaman Bhatra (21)—were engaged in roadside plantation work when a speeding truck fatally struck them from behind in Sikandar Kaman under Keesara police limits.
The labourers had migrated to Telangana merely 11 days ago in search of work. Their sudden demise has cast a pall of grief over their native village.
Expressing deep sorrow, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh each to the bereaved families from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The gesture aims to provide immediate financial support and acknowledge the tragic loss of lives.
The state government is coordinating with Telangana authorities to ensure the safe return of the bodies and extend necessary assistance to the families.
