AIIMS Bhubaneswar recently concluded UROSCOPIA 2025, a landmark zonal operative workshop on advanced laparoscopic and retroperitoneoscopic urological surgery.
The event, the first of its kind in Eastern India, was organised by the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation in collaboration with the Odisha Urology Association. It brought together national faculty and budding surgeons for a cutting-edge exchange on evolving surgical techniques.
Over three immersive days, participants engaged in live and semi-live surgeries, academic sessions, and hands-on training via the internationally acclaimed Tübingen model—introduced to Eastern India for the first time. Key surgical advancements were showcased in procedures for adrenal tumours, prostate and kidney cancers, and complex urological reconstructions. Experts emphasised how these minimally invasive approaches translate into faster recoveries, enhanced safety, and better patient outcomes.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas commended the organising team, stating, “AIIMS Bhubaneswar continues to lead in delivering high-quality surgical education and advancing patient care.” Chairmen Dr. Prasant Nayak and Dr. Subodh Das expressed deep appreciation for the energetic participation and academic enthusiasm witnessed throughout the event.
Organising Secretary Dr. Manoj Das reaffirmed the department’s focus on nurturing future urologists through such pioneering initiatives. As the curtain closed on UROSCOPIA 2025, voices from across the medical fraternity echoed a shared sentiment—to make this transformative workshop an annual flagship event, solidifying Eastern India’s growing reputation as a hub of surgical excellence.
