In a landmark moment for Indian music, the title track of Mohit Suri’s film Saiyaara has become the first-ever Bollywood song to top Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart. This record-breaking feat underscores the song’s global appeal and its deep emotional resonance with listeners across cultures.
Starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Saiyaara has emerged as both a box office sensation and a musical triumph. The romantic drama follows the story of Krish (Ahaan), who composes a song to help his love, Vaani (Aneet), find her way back to him as she battles early-onset Alzheimer’s. That song — Saiyaara — now mirrors its fictional purpose by finding its way into hearts worldwide.
Penned by Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami, and soulfully performed by indie artist Faheem Abdullah, Saiyaara has become a Gen Z anthem. The song has eclipsed tracks by global superstars like Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and BLACKPINK, marking a watershed moment for Indian pop culture on the world stage.
Celebrating the achievement, composer Tanishk Bagchi wrote on Instagram, “Indian music isn’t rising. It’s already flying. Saiyaara is the proof.”
A production of Yash Raj Films, the movie has also delivered a stellar box office performance, earning over ₹100 crore within four days of release. Premiered on July 18, Saiyaara has also topped Spotify India’s Top 10.
