Personnel of the 165 CRPF Battalion apprehended four Maoists near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, within the forested terrain of Jagargunda in Sukma district.
Sources said the arrests took place during a routine search operation. As the jawans advanced into the forest, they noticed suspicious individuals attempting to flee. Acting swiftly, CRPF personnel detained four people whose behaviour raised immediate concern.
Interrogation revealed that all four were active members of the Jagargunda Maoist Area Committee. They confessed to entering the area to plant explosives targeting security personnel. The operation also led to the seizure of a tiffin bomb, further validating their intentions.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in curbing extremist activities along the border regions, reinforcing the effectiveness of CRPF surveillance and intelligence-led action.
