Persistent rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad led to the abandonment of Match 63 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) without a ball being bowled.
As a result of this washout, both teams are awarded one point each.
While KKR had already made it to the playoffs, the extra point helps their cause as they have sealed the top-two finish. They now move to 19 points on the table – heading into their last league game against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati.
However, Gujarat Titans have now been eliminated from the Playoffs race. The 2022 Champions and last year’s finalists move to 11 points with a game to go. A favourable result in their last league game will only take them to 13 points, while there are already four teams that are currently at 14 points or more.
GT will close their campaign on May 16 with a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.
