Odisha Vigilance arrested Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), for possessing disproportionate assets far beyond his known sources of income.

According to official sources, the arrest follows extensive raids conducted on various properties linked to Pattnaik. The findings included:

  • Three multi-storey buildings—one in Bhubaneswar and two in Gunpur
  • A farmhouse and three premium plots in Bhubaneswar
  • Rs 80+ lakh in bank deposits
  • 460 grams of gold
  • One four-wheeler (Grand Vitara)
  • A country-made firearm
  • A pair of antler horns

The Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.16/2025 has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Pattnaik is set to be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Adding to the gravity of the case, forest authorities have instituted another case (OR Case No. 3 of 2025-26) under Sections 9, 49, and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. This comes after antler horns were found in his possession, deemed illegal under wildlife protection norms. The case has been registered under the Alipatna Forest Range, Khordha Wildlife Division.

Odisha Vigilance continues its aggressive pursuit against public servants indulging in corrupt practices, reaffirming the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward graft.
