A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed onto the campus of Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area on Monday afternoon, leading to the death of at least one individual and injuring four others.
The incident occurred while children were present on school grounds, triggering immediate emergency responses.
The aircraft, identified as an F-7 BGI fighter jet, went down shortly after takeoff during a training operation. Eyewitnesses described a loud explosion followed by plumes of smoke and flames enveloping the crash site. Television footage showed emergency personnel scrambling to rescue victims as fire crews fought to contain the blaze.
In a brief statement, the Bangladesh Army confirmed the aircraft belonged to the Air Force and acknowledged ongoing investigations into the cause of the crash. Fire official Lima Khan confirmed the casualty count and noted that further details are being gathered.
