Robin Kaye, a longtime music supervisor for American Idol, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead in their Encino, Los Angeles home on Monday, July 14. Both victims, aged 70, had sustained gunshot wounds to the head, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The discovery was made during a welfare check after friends reported not hearing from the couple for four days. Officers forced entry into the house through a glass window, where they found both deceased.
Police have arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, also a resident of Encino, in connection with the double homicide. Surveillance footage and forensic evidence helped identify the suspect. Charges are pending.
Authorities suspect that Boodarian broke into the couple’s home on Thursday, July 10, using an unlocked door. When the couple returned, a confrontation allegedly led to the fatal shootings. Days earlier, officers had responded to reports of someone jumping the couple’s fence, but were unable to enter the heavily secured property.
Robin Kaye, known for her contributions to American Idol since 2009, was a veteran of the music and television industry. Her notable work included Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Singing Bee, Hollywood Game Night, and Nashville Star.
A representative for American Idol expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Robin was a beloved member of the Idol family for over a decade. Her warmth, professionalism, and spirit touched everyone she worked with. She will be deeply missed.”
