Monsoon rains finally swept across Odisha, bringing widespread showers to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and several districts.
Ten days after the official onset of the monsoon, the weather turned cloudy and wet, offering relief from the persistent heat and humidity.
Light to moderate rain continued through the morning in the Twin City, cooling temperatures and refreshing the atmosphere. Commuters used umbrellas and raincoats as water accumulated on roads, slowing traffic and affecting daily routines. Several low-lying areas reported temporary waterlogging, while farmers welcomed the rainfall as ideal for paddy transplantation and other crops.
The showers eased the heatwave that had gripped the state for weeks. Residents expressed satisfaction with the cooler weather, though many complained about poor drainage and traffic congestion caused by standing water.
Meteorological forecasts indicate that rain will continue across most districts in the coming days. Heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas, prompting authorities to advise caution against waterlogging, power disruptions, and road accidents.
