As stumps were drawn on Day 4 of the 3rd Test match between India and England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, the tension was palpable.

With the scoreboard reading 58/4 in 17.4 overs, India find themselves in a precarious position, needing 135 runs to secure a remarkable victory against the hosts.

The penultimate day of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s saw a gripping turnaround led by seam dominance and relentless pressure. With 14 wickets tumbling on Day 4, the contest hangs on a knife’s edge heading into the final session.

England was bowled out for 192 in their second innings, handing India a target of 193. In response, India closed the day at 58/4, needing 135 runs more with just six wickets in hand.

KL Rahul stands as India’s lone anchor at 33* (47), while wickets dramatically fell around him. Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught behind off Jofra Archer, followed by Karun Nair and Shubman Gill, both trapped LBW by Brydon Carse. England capped the session with Ben Stokes dismissing night watchman Akash Deep at the stroke of stumps.

India’s chase now hinges on grit and composure against a pumped-up English attack. With Rahul settled and resistance required from the middle order, the Lord’s finale promises drama befitting the iconic venue.

The loss of early wickets has left fans on edge, but hope rests on dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who could unleash his aggressive flair. Pant’s potential impact on Day 5 could be game-changing, as speculated by fans on social media. Contributions from Ravindra Jadeja and other lower-order batsmen might also prove crucial, with some predicting a target of 30+ runs from each to clinch the win.

England, having posted 387 in their first innings, will look to capitalise on their strong bowling attack. The Day 5 showdown promises a thrilling contest, with the ball likely to soften, potentially favouring India’s batsmen.

As the cricket world watches, the question remains: can India defy the odds and etch their name in Lord’s folklore?
