In response to the recent assault of two Dalit individuals in Dharakote block of Ganjam district, the All Odisha Scheduled Caste Federation has strongly condemned the incident, calling it a grave violation of human rights.

The Federation has demanded stringent action against the accused and adequate compensation for the victims.

According to sources, the Federation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, the Chief Minister of Odisha, the State Human Rights Commission, and the Superintendent of Police, Ganjam. The memorandum was submitted via the District Collector of Kalahandi.

The Federation’s delegation included President Basanta Naik, General Secretary Bibhishan Naik, Executive Chairman Rishisudan Chhatrapal, Suryanarayan Kumar, Treasurer Gajmohan Naik, Advisor Yogeshwar Sagar, along with Ram Naik and Debendra Naik.

They expressed grave concern over the inhumane treatment of two Dalit men, reportedly tortured by self-styled “cow vigilantes.” Allegations include forced parade, physical assault, and humiliation by being made to consume grass and drain water.

The Federation has urged national-level bodies to intervene, highlighting that such atrocities not only violate constitutional safeguards but also erode the dignity of Dalit communities.
