A late-night gun attack near Angul Eco Park left a youth critically injured, sparking fear in the local community.
Around 11 p.m., Biswajit Mitra, a travel agency owner, was washing his vehicle near Eco Park when two youths passed by. A dispute broke out between the driver and the youths over parking on the road. Hearing the commotion, Biswajit and his friend Bhawani Shankar Pradhan rushed to the spot.
As the argument escalated, Biswajit slapped the youths twice. The duo fled towards Rajkishore Pada but soon returned on a Bullet motorcycle. They fired at Biswajit, but the bullet struck Bhawani in the stomach. The attackers then assaulted Biswajit with iron rods, fracturing his leg, before fleeing.
Local residents quickly admitted both injured men to Angul hospital. Doctors later shifted Bhawani to Cuttack as his condition worsened.
