A devastating explosion rocked the Sigachi Chemicals facility in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Monday, killing at least ten workers and injuring several others.
The blast, which reportedly originated from a reactor during standard operations, ignited a massive fire that swept through the Pashamylaram Industrial Area.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, launching a large-scale rescue and containment operation. According to authorities, several victims were recovered from the debris while others were transported to nearby hospitals with critical injuries. The exact number of those injured has not yet been confirmed, but officials warn the death toll could rise.
Local police have cordoned off the area as fire teams worked tirelessly to prevent the blaze from spreading. An investigation is underway to determine whether safety protocols were followed at the chemical plant.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the incident and instructed officials to expedite relief efforts. “All measures must be taken to ensure the injured receive prompt medical care, and the cause of the explosion must be thoroughly investigated,” he stated.
This tragic event has reignited concerns over industrial safety standards in the region, especially in densely packed industrial zones like Pashamylaram.
