Officials from the food supply department seized a truck transporting illegally procured paddy in the Agalpur block of Odisha.
The operation, led by the Additional Supply Officer of Balangir, Sarat Kumar Raut, followed intelligence inputs about unauthorised movement of paddy between districts.
The raid was conducted near the PACS (Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society) in Naagaon (A), under Agalpur block, where a vehicle bearing registration number OD03D-5235 was intercepted. The truck was found carrying 60 sacks of paddy, totalling 24 quintals and 18 kilograms, allegedly being transported from Bargarh district to Balangir district without proper documentation.
The seized paddy was reportedly procured under the name of Anadi Dandasena from the village of Chantipali in Gaisilet block, Bargarh. The vehicle has since been impounded at the Agalpur police station, and a detailed investigation has been launched.
According to departmental sources, more such raids are likely as the department intensifies its crackdown on illegal grain movement ahead of the procurement season.
