Bhubaneswar: Protesting the government’s proposed LAccMI bus scheme, Odisha State Private Bus Owners Association has threatened a state-wide stir from August 16.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the Association demanded to withdraw the proposed scheme for the interest of thousands of private bus operators and staff.
Debendra Sahu, secretary of association, said that the LAccMI Yojana, which is going to be started SOON, will not be so fruitful as the previous Mo Bus Yojana was running at a loss.
The association reacted to the government’s move sharply at a meeting of the owners in Bhubaneswar.
The association has been opposing the OSRTC buses running to urban areas under Mo Bus Yojana as they are being run by a private company suffering loss. But, now in the new scheme, the government is planning to buy buses and hand over to private firms, which is opposed by the private bus owners.
If the proposed plan is not withdrawn by August 15, the bus owners will go on an indefinite strike from the next day, the association stated.
The government will be held responsible for the agitation, the association warned.
