Bhubaneswar: As many as 46,731 unemployed engineering graduates have been officially registered in the State, informed Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak to Odisha Assembly on Saturday. Nayak was replying to a question posed by BJP legislator Nauri Nayak in the Assembly today.
As per the data tabled in Assembly, at present Odisha has registered 9,487 unemployed B.Tech graduates, 3,497 M.Tech and 33,747 Diploma degree holders.
Minister Premananda Nayak informed the House that the State government-run technical universities, colleges and schools have their own placement cell for providing employment opportunity to pass out students who avail jobs in various companies on their own efforts.
The Skill Development & Technical Education Minister also apprised the House that the students are being imparted soft skill training, software training and employability skill training by the state government so that they could be eligible for employment.
Besides, the State Government has signed MoUs with various companies so that the technical students could have access to placements, the Minister informed the House.
Nayak further apprised the House that Centre of Excellence has even established at the college level as an outcome of the MoUs inked between the state government and industrial firms.
