Indian Railways has taken bold steps to curb unauthorised automated bookings, ensuring fairer ticket access for genuine users.
Using AI-powered systems and enhanced cybersecurity measures, the railway network has eliminated bot traffic that peaks during the Tatkal booking window, improving accessibility for passengers.
A landmark achievement was recorded on May 22, 2025, with a record 31,814 tickets booked in a single minute, demonstrating the robustness of the upgraded platform. The initiative also led to the deactivation of 2.5 crore suspected user IDs, strengthening transparency in the reservation process.
To further streamline ticketing, Indian Railways introduced new user protocols, prioritising Aadhaar-verified users for instant bookings. The move has resulted in a 19.53% increase in daily logins, alongside an 11.85% surge in daily ticket bookings.
The modernisation efforts include active bot mitigation through sophisticated AI algorithms, proactive deactivation of suspicious accounts, and faster load times via a Content Delivery Network (CDN). With e-ticketing now accounting for 86.38% of total reserved bookings, Indian Railways aims to provide a seamless, secure, and user-friendly ticketing experience for millions of passengers nationwide.
