The Supreme Court of India has ruled that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) 2025 must be conducted in a single shift instead of the previously planned two-shift format.
The decision aims to eliminate discrepancies and ensure fairness in the highly competitive exam.
A bench led by Justice Vikram Nath stated that conducting the exam in two shifts leads to “arbitrariness,” as different question papers can vary in difficulty. The ruling came in response to a petition challenging the National Board of Examinations’ decision to hold the test in multiple shifts.
The court has directed authorities to make necessary arrangements to conduct the exam in a single phase and maintain transparency throughout the process. This verdict is expected to streamline the assessment process and provide a uniform evaluation standard for all candidates.
