Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a masterclass in chasing, crushing Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets in the first qualifier at the New PCA Stadium, Chandigarh.

With this emphatic win, RCB books a direct ticket to the TATA IPL 2025 Final, proving their championship pedigree in style.

The victory marks a significant milestone for RCB, a team that has faced numerous heartbreaks in their 17-year IPL journey, last reaching the final in 2016 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

PBKS got off to a shaky start, losing wickets rapidly during the powerplay. Struggling at 48/4 in the first six overs, Punjab Kings never quite recovered from early setbacks. Musheer Khan and Harpreet Brar played crucial roles in stabilising the innings, but their efforts were not enough to post a competitive total.

Phil Salt Steals the Show

RCB began their chase with aggression, making 61/1 in the powerplay and maintaining their dominance throughout the innings. The star of the night was Phil Salt, who blasted a 23-ball half-century, ensuring RCB’s chase never lost momentum. Supported by Mayank Agarwal, Salt’s fearless batting dismantled PBKS’s bowling attack.

RCB’s Road to the Final

RCB’s path to the final was not without challenges. The IPL 2025 season faced significant disruptions due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to a week-long suspension of matches starting May 9. The BCCI, prioritising national interest, rescheduled the playoffs, with the final now set for June 3, 2025, just a week before the ICC World Test Championship final.

With this victory, RCB is now set to compete in the IPL 2025 Final, awaiting their challenger. The team has displayed consistency and control, making them strong contenders for the prestigious trophy.

As the IPL 2025 reaches its climax, RCB’s fans will be eagerly anticipating whether their team can convert this momentum into a historic championship win.
