The Indian government has urged Iranian authorities to locate three missing Indian nationals who vanished after travelling to Iran.

The families of the missing individuals allege that they were abducted on May 1, with their kidnappers demanding ransom for their release.

The three men, hailing from Punjab’s Sangrur, Nawanshahr, and Hoshiarpur districts, had originally planned to travel to Australia for work. However, travel agents reportedly rerouted them to Iran under false pretences, leading to their alleged kidnapping. The families have shared distressing images and videos of the men, showing their hands tied and visible injuries.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has been actively engaging with Iranian authorities, demanding immediate action to ensure the safety of the missing citizens. The embassy is also keeping the families updated on diplomatic efforts. Meanwhile, Punjab officials have pledged support for the affected families, urging the central government to intervene decisively.

This case follows a recent surge in incidents involving illegal travel routes, including the infamous “Dunki route,” which has led to deportations and exploitation of Indian nationals abroad.
