In a startling revelation, a class 10 dropout named Prasannajit Sarkar was arrested by the Aryapalli Marine Police for posing as a doctor and running an illegal clinic in Aryapalli, Chhatrapur block, Ganjam district.
For two years, Sarkar, originally from West Bengal, operated a clinic without a medical license, deceiving countless patients with his stethoscope and false credentials.
Following complaints about a quack doctor operating in the area, the police conducted raids. Their investigation led them to Gandhi Chhak, where they uncovered Sarkar’s unauthorised clinic. Upon inspection, police discovered that Sarkar lacked any medical qualifications, with his education limited to failing class 10. Despite this, he had been treating patients, prescribing medicines, and running the clinic with confidence.
The police seized a large quantity of medicines and medical equipment from the clinic. Sarkar was arrested and is set to be produced in court today. Vidya Bharati, the officer-in-charge at Aryapalli Marine Police Station, confirmed the arrest and stated that such raids would continue to crack down on fake doctors operating in the region.
This incident has raised concerns about the prevalence of unqualified practitioners exploiting vulnerable communities. Authorities have urged the public to verify the credentials of medical professionals and report suspicious activities to prevent such fraud.
The case underscores the need for stricter regulations and vigilance to protect public health from unqualified individuals posing as medical professionals. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of Sarkar’s operations and their impact on patients.
