A man lost a part of his hand after a dynamite went off accidentally during stone blasting in Kusashinga village within Harbhanga Police limits in Boudh district on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Sachidananda Mahakud, was using dynamite to break large rocks in his field when a premature detonation occurred, severing a part of his right hand and causing injuries to his head and body.
Locals rushed to help and immediately transported him to Harabhanga CHC. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was shifted to Boudh Medical College, where doctors worked to stabilise his condition.
However, as his health deteriorated, authorities decided to transfer him to Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to sources, Sachidananda was blasting rocks in his field when one of the dynamite devices exploded in his hand, severing a part of it completely. The sudden explosion left him with extensive injuries, prompting an urgent medical response.
Family members have confirmed that his condition remains serious, and doctors at SCB Medical are monitoring his progress closely.
