Novak Djokovic took another significant step toward tennis history on Friday, securing a hard-fought victory over qualifier Cameron Norrie in the semifinals of the 2025 Gonet Geneva Open.

The Serbian star, already one of the sport’s most decorated players, overcame a tight second-set tiebreak to win 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-1, setting up a final showdown against Hubert Hurkacz.

The win puts Djokovic within touching distance of his 100th tour-level title, a feat that only Jimmy Connors (109 titles) and Roger Federer (103 titles) have achieved in the Open Era.

Djokovic initially looked sharp, dictating play with precise shot-making and disciplined baseline play. However, Norrie found his rhythm in the second set, pushing Djokovic to a tiebreak where the Serbian held a match point but failed to convert. Despite this setback, the 38-year-old champion regrouped spectacularly, dominating the deciding set with crisp ball-striking and tactical adjustments.

“It was the toughest match of the tournament for me so far, three sets,” Djokovic said. “I got a little tight in the second-set tiebreak, but I’m really glad with how I regrouped in the third and played my best set of the week.”

On the other side of the draw, Hubert Hurkacz secured his spot in the final with a commanding 6-3, 6-4 win over Sebastian Ofner. The Polish player showcased his powerful serving, winning 88% of points behind his first serve and displaying unwavering control throughout the match.

Djokovic holds a perfect 7-0 record against Hurkacz in their ATP Head-to-Head encounters, but with history on the line, the Geneva final promises to be a thrilling battle between two high-caliber competitors.

Will Djokovic claim his 100th ATP title, joining the ranks of tennis immortals? The Geneva final will provide all the answers.
