As Covid-19 cases spike again in parts of India, Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Nita Ambani was seen promoting safety after her team’s dominant 59-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium.
A viral photo captured her pouring hand sanitiser into Jasprit Bumrah’s palm before celebrations began — a gesture she extended to other players like Karn Sharma as well.
MI’s playoff-clinching win, powered by Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 73 and a strong bowling effort from Mitchell Santner and Bumrah (3 wickets each), puts them among the top four with 16 points. The victory ensures playoff spots for MI, Gujarat Titans, RCB, and Punjab Kings.
Meanwhile, DC’s playoff hopes are officially over, as even a win in their final match wouldn’t secure enough points.
Amid the celebrations, MI captain Hardik Pandya also chose a fist bump over handshakes — reflecting caution as Covid-19 cases rise again in Maharashtra, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh. Notably, Travis Head from Sunrisers Hyderabad missed a match due to testing positive, delaying his arrival in India.
