The Civil Defence Unit of Bhubaneswar will conduct a detailed mock drill simulating an air raid attack to enhance emergency response readiness.

This exercise, held in a time-bound manner, will evaluate the efficiency of response teams and their ability to effectively manage crisis situations.

The drill will begin at 3:55 PM today with the reception of an air raid warning, which will trigger a series of actions, including the activation of sirens, mass evacuation, and simulated cover. By 4:15 PM, the staged “attack” will commence, prompting emergency services to respond swiftly. Rescue teams will secure the area, provide medical assistance, and carry out firefighting operations.

Various specialised Civil Defence teams will be mobilised, including rescue squads, enforcement units, unexploded bomb (UXB) teams, casualty management groups, and fire response personnel. An Incident Commander will lead the coordination, ensuring timely decision-making and seamless operations.

This exercise highlights the city’s preparedness for potential air raid emergencies, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated response efforts in mitigating risks and ensuring public safety.
