Bhubaneswar: Ranks of Polytechnics both Government and Private have been released by Pritiranjan Gharai, Minister, Skill Development & Technical Education (SD&TE) Department at a function at State Council of Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), Odisha.
The Minister said that the Ranking of Polytechnics in the state of Odisha has been done by the SD&TE department to ensure the quality of diploma-level education in polytechnics in the state.
Quality Council of India (QCI), New Delhi has undertaken the evaluation work in multiple stages including field visits to all the 102 Polytechnics across the state, that have figured in the rankings.
The government of Odisha is putting emphasis on 5T measures. This activity has figured under the 5-T programme of the SD&TE Department. The ranks obtained by different Institutions are meant for indicating the academic status of the institutions.
He said the ranking process will create a healthy competition among all the Polytechnics to improve further.
Those Polytechnics who have not participated this time shall definitely participate next time. For Ranking of Polytechnic in the next year, activity towards environment shall also be considered as one component of the Parameters. This is a unique achievement of the state, as no such ranking at the state level for any types of Educational Institutions have so far been done.
The Minister congratulated SD&TE Department headed by Principal Secretary and also Vice Chairman SCTE&VT for such vision and achievement.
These ranks shall help the admission aspiring candidates and their parents for taking decision at the counselling time. Principal Secretary Sri Hemant Sharma outlines the need of ranking for Polytechnics and provided detailed analysis of ranks obtained by different parameter.
He also explained the seven parameters taken for finding the ranks. He said that though there exists provision at the National level for Ranking of ITI s and Degree Engineering colleges, yet no provision exists for preparing for ranking of Polytechnics at the National level.
SD&TE Department has taken initiative to do such ranking at the state level. DTE&T Sri Reghu G explained the process followed right from data collection from the institution to grievance resolution and then appeal resolution before arriving at the final ranks.
