In a remarkable milestone for women’s empowerment in Odisha, the Subhadra Yojana has reached over 1 crore women, providing financial assistance and skill development opportunities.

At a media interaction held today in Bhubaneswar, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed heartfelt gratitude to the media for their pivotal role in the scheme’s success. The event, organised by the Department of Women and Child Development, saw over 200 senior journalists, editors, and media representatives engage in open discussions to further enhance the scheme’s impact.

Parida highlighted the media’s proactive efforts in disseminating the scheme’s guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to every household, fostering widespread awareness. “The media has been instrumental in ensuring that Subhadra Yojana reaches the grassroots, making it a household name and empowering women across Odisha,” she said. The scheme, designed to provide financial aid and skill training, has been a game-changer for women’s economic independence, with plans to further enrich it through targeted skill development programs.

During the interactive session, Parida addressed queries from media representatives and welcomed their suggestions to refine the scheme. She emphasised the government’s commitment to incorporating these inputs to make Subhadra Yojana more inclusive and effective.

The Deputy Chief Minister also acknowledged the tireless efforts of grassroots workers, including Anganwadi workers, Mo Seva Kendra staff, and Jan Seva Kendra personnel, alongside officials from the Women and Child Development Department, for their role in enrolling over 1 crore beneficiaries in record time.

The conclave was graced by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, who engaged with media representatives on various governance issues. Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Anu Garg provided detailed responses to queries related to the scheme’s implementation, underscoring its transformative potential. Monisha Banerjee, Director of the Women and Child Development Department, along with other senior officials, also participated, reinforcing the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

The event underscored the collaborative spirit between the government and the media in driving social welfare initiatives. With the Subhadra Yojana setting a benchmark for women-centric schemes, Odisha is poised to lead the way in gender equality and economic empowerment.
