Bhubaneswar: Suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash were granted bail by Vigilance Court here today, due to non-submission of the charge-sheet by the Vigilance.
The bail was granted by ‘default’ as the investigating agency failed to file the charge-sheet in two months (60 days).
It is to be noted here that, the father-son duo was arrested on 27th November last year by the anti-corruption wing on charges of amassing Disproportionate Assets (DA).
Following the arrest, the 1987-batch Indian Forest Service officer Pathak was suspended from his service and subsequently, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also recommended the Centre to give the official compulsory retirement.
On the other hand, his son Akash Pathak was accused of impersonation as MD of Tata Motors Limited and cheating crores of rupees from several job seekers on the pretext of employing them with the Company.
Besides, it is also alleged that the Pathaks defrauded a Bhubaneswar-based travel agency, Sky King, by booking chartered flights, five-star hotels and air tickets amounting to over Rs 2 crores.
